The number of people living on the margins of Australian society has grown over the years. Statistics regarding the people with mental health challenges, being homeless, disconnected from society because they are regarded as being past their prime, people living in poverty, and children struggling to cope with disabilities are staggering. The members of FOLSI are a dedicated team of volunteers who share the same philosophy, have a common goal, and are passionate about changing people’s lives and making their community stronger. The members of FOLSI are committed to journeying with people from all walks of life, age and circumstances. The services we provide will assist marginalised older adults, children living with disability, the homeless and disadvantaged individuals and families
The first of its kind in Western Australia this one-stop community services hub will support, equip, empower and connect individuals and families who are facing mental health and psycho-social challenges and those experiencing domestic violence, grief and trauma to life services.
Though Australia is a first world country, statistics prove that mental health is a major concern with 1 in 5 Australians experiencing a mental health condition.
Mental illnesses are the third leading cause of disability burden in Australia, accounting for an estimated 27% of the total years lost due to disability.
Approximately 18,000 children and 105,000 individuals are homeless with 6 million people living below the poverty line.
Ms Maria Daniel the Director of Fount of Life Sanctuary Inc. is the visionary of the Sanctuary project. The vision written in June 2012, was finally birthed in May 2014 through a generous Perth benefactor who purchased the land at 28 Lewis Road, Wattle Grove, WA 6107 to see the vision become a reality.
The vision sets the scene for Perth’s one-stop community hub that establishes the foundations for a fun and safe, educational and holistic person-centred support program for some of Perth’s vulnerable children, individuals and families.
At the heart of the vision is a passion to transition and transform the lives of children with disability, individuals and families doing it tough, and our marginalised senior folk, from surviving to thriving.
