Joshie’s Hub
This service enables children with physical and intellectual disabilities to acquire life skills and discover meaningful roles in society.
Joshie’s Hub provides:
- An animal therapy farm.
- Life skills centre.
- Speech therapy services.
- Occupational therapy services.
- Trade centre where activities such as gardening, hospitality and basic life skills are taught.
Barnabas Life Services
Run by volunteers, Barnabas Life Services is a 24 hour response service that provides non-perishable essential items and cooked food to disadvantaged individuals and families in the community.
Some example of what this service offers are:
- Provision of petrol vouchers
- Financial assistance
- Food vouchers
- Grocery parcels
- Family meals
- Supplies of clothing for individuals.
Education Services
To equip and empower individuals who have been unable to connect with mainstream educational services.
- Providing life-skills training to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Provision of life-skill programs such as mental health awareness, cooking classes, housekeeping, financial management, home economics, self-care, health and nutrition and family responsibilities, to youth and disadvantaged families/persons.
- “FOLSI Scholarship for Community Service” for young people.
- Providing funding and scholarships for young people who are from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to study at their respective educational institution
- Provision of on-line English tutorials for school years 7 – 10 to assist students who cannot afford tutorials and are struggling at school.
Community Garden
- The community garden caters to the needs of people from all ages and abilities. The garden will act as a day placement activity that vulnerable members of the community including children with disability can opt in for horticulture services.
- Donors will be able to donate to a plot of land that is maintained by our patrons.
- The produce from the community garden will be used at the community café to provide meals for our vulnerable clients with a percentage reserved for pickling, jams, and preserves that can be sold at the café.
Community Cafe
- The community kitchen will operate in the provision of food services to the patrons of the Sanctuary. Food cooked at the café will also be made available to vulnerable families and individuals in the community.
- Run every day, of the week with the assistance of the volunteers and those who avail of the services in the Sanctuary.
- The produce from the community garden, will supply fresh fruit and vegetables to the café which in turn will produce food for our patrons, struggling individuals and families in the community.
- Patrons of the project can avail of refreshments at the onsite rustic village café and shop.
- The café will also contain onsite produced preserves, condiments, jams and olive oil from the produce on the land.
- This community café will be opened during visiting hours to assist with the services of Joshie's Hub, the community garden and the educational centre.
- The community cafe will also be a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) offering accredited training in hospitality and lifestyle management.
Sensory Therapy Garden
- The sensory therapy garden will have both plant and engineering features contained within it.
- It will appeal to the sense of taste, sight, smell, hearing, and touch.
- Run with allied health support, vulnerable children with disability and individuals will be able to avail of the therapeutic nature of this sensory garden.
Animal Therapy Farm
- The animal therapy farm will have sheep, goats, an alpaca, ewes, ducks, chickens, a couple of rabbits and a couple of miniature ponies.
- Run by allied health professionals to assist in the area of learning disability, assist in therapeutic care in the area of mental health and wellbeing therapy, and combat loneliness with our senior citizens, this service is in great demand in the community and among community sector organisations.
